Did I tell you about our Miracle Cat?

Did I tell you about our Miracle Cat? Over 10 years ago, My husband and I decided to go to the local pound and get a cat. Only He looked in one cage and found a bound with a female kitten, while I looked in the male cat pen and found a bound with one of my own. We tried to compromise but those four cute little eyes already got our hearts. So we brought both of them home. We named them itchy & scratchy.

Scratchy was a slender version of the good old American alley cat. Her thin hair was swirled with browns and blacks, and her belly was white. She had a long body, with dainty little paws and head. Very affectionate. But she was a fearsome hunter and loved to wonder. We live on a mountainside with miles of forest around us so she had lots of areas to play.

Itchy is the fat male kitten with thick blond hair and a dense undercoat,. He was goofy, always getting into trouble. Hated to be held. Stayed close. Always wanted to stay inside. Together, itchy and scratchy were a great pair. Scratchy would scold itchy, then clean him. They would even put their arms around each other.
But one day our fearless hunter never came home, we search in-vane and knew something must have gotten her.
We all grieved, itchy wasn’t playful anymore. After about a month of staring out the window, itchy went missing too. We figured that he went out to look for her.

Below where we live is a ranch with a meadow and cows. Every winter the owner collects downed and dry wood and does a big burn in the middle of the meadow. This year was no difference. There was a lot of activity, machinery and dogs barking. My husband and I were really worried.

The next day,we called, and called all day, then began to settled in for the night. When my husband saw this black cat on the porch. He said it was itchy, but I didn’t recognize him at all. He opened the slider, reached down to pick up this strange black cat and it’s hair fell off in chunks of ashes. Oh My God it’s itchy!

Our beautiful cat had been burnt to a crisp! His paws were bloody raw and I imagined how painful it must have been to walk on the forest floor all the way home. We were stunned on what to do. I quickly filled a wash tub with cold water and dunked the cat’s whole body into it. For a half a second his instincts on seeing the water made him clinched, but he soon relaxed. We squished the water around to loose up the charcoled hair and see if he had any injuries. We replaced the blackened water several times before we could get a clear picture.

Itchy cried, but he was brave and let us keep touch him. It was so scary.

We concluded that itchy must have been in the meadow and got chased by the dogs into the burn pile, and was held in there for quite a while. His poor ears were crisp and burnt. The inside eye lids were burnt. His nose and all this paws were bloody, and most of his hair was gone. We also feared that there may be internal damages from smoke and heat.

So, as most emergencies happen, it was the middle of the night, on Sunday. And we are 25 miles away from a vet. I searched through all my emergency supplies. Found simple eyedrops just borac acid and no extra ingredients. I found a tincture of valarian and goldenseal, our Hemp-EaZe and bandages.

He took the eye drops willingly, and swallowed the tincture with no problems. Then I carefully spread our Hemp-EaZe Therapy Cream on his ears, which he didn’t like. Then I smeared the cream on gauze bandages and wrapped his paws and tail end.

We place him on a towel in the middle of the living room rug, with water, food, newspapers, and even an air cleaner in hopes it helped him to breath.

The next morning, he was still in the same spot, but he had eaten, so that was a good sign. For the next two weeks, we followed the same routine, eye drops, tincture, and changing bandages with Hemp-EaZe. Every day there was improvement and he was an obedient patient. Poor cat must have been hurting. The valarian in the tincture helped with that, so he could sleep. While the Hemp-EaZe also helped to ease the pain with his ears and paws.

In two weeks, this nearly dead cat was following us around the house again. itchy didn’t have any infections, or complications during the healing. I credit the internal use of goldenseal, which is an excellent antibiotic. Plus the topical use of an antiseptic cream like Hemp-EaZe that helped to accelerate the healing process, and encourage cellular growth.

He lost half of his ears but now he just looks like a little lion. He’s never gained his inner eyelids and has runny eyes a lot. But his paws, tail and beautiful hair came back.
Yes itchy is our miracle cat, and he’s happy and fat. He stay close by now. And is sitting on my lap as I write this.
But since that experience I developed a spray version of our Hemp-EaZe Therapy Cream, for easier application and to sink the medicine down passed the hairline called Hemp-EaZe Pet Aid. www.hemp-eaze.com
